The Plumb Club was pleased to present a retail-learning opportunity webinar provided by Platinum Guild International, USA (PGI) entitled, “Emerging Design, Responsible Sourcing, and Retail Trends: The New Platinum Opportunity”.  The virtual event took place on Thursday, May 14 at 1pm Eastern and was free and open to the entire jewelry industry.

With every shift of consumer desire or the retail landscape, new opportunities present themselves for the savvy retailers who are watching and reacting.  for this webinar filled with great insight on a new retailer opportunity. Kevin Reilly, senior vice president for PGI, moderated a panel of industry veterans providing insights and practical ways retailers can leverage these trends.

The webinar discussed the evolving platinum opportunity at retail and looked at how emerging design direction, responsible sourcing and retail trends are creating new momentum for platinum jewelry. Panelists discussed how fresh concepts, strong storytelling, and responsible mining can support retailer differentiation and spur customer engagement. The conversation highlighted what to watch for as the Las Vegas shows approach and how retailers can identify ideas and opportunities that feel both current and commercially relevant.

The panel consisted of:  

 

Kevin Reilly (Moderator): A jewelry veteran of over 30 years, Reilly is responsible for developing strategic partnerships for PGI at all levels of the supply chain, formulating programs to help them build their platinum jewelry business.

 

 

Nimit Shah (Panelist): Shah is a Manager in the Market Development team of Valterra Platinum, a leading global mining company. He directs some of Valterra’s industry-leading market creation and venture initiatives to stimulate new and sustainable demand for platinum group metals including Hostetter, as well as other industrial applications.

 

 

John Orrico (Panelist): Orrico is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of leadership experience in the luxury jewelry industry. His career spans iconic brands such as Tiffany & Co. and Maison Birks/Mayors Jewelers. Currently, Orrico is president of Frederick Goldman, Inc.
