New Plumb Club Research Reveals
Increases in Consumer Jewelry Spend

New York – The Plumb Club’s new groundbreaking 2025 research reveals that the average consumer-spend for a piece of jewelry has risen across the board. However, jewelry purchase-prices not intended for an engagement or wedding have risen substantially over the past couple of years since the previous study in 2023.

  • The survey shows that the average spend on a piece of bridal jewelry is $5,493, which represents an increase of 2% since the last survey. Non-bridal jewelry has an average spend of $1,664 and this number represents an increase of 28% over the 2023 survey.

  • Independent and local jewelers are still the preferred place, according to 43% of consumers, to buy jewelry. National chains come next with 23% of consumers, followed by department stores, which are preferred by 13% of consumers. Online is preferred by 12%.

  • Consumers reveal that designers and brands are the main influences in their purchase at 31%, while family and friends follow in purchase influence at 30%. 21% of consumers say they are influenced by a retailer’s website. When it comes to the purchase decision, 39% rank the quality of the piece as the highest factor, representing a 25% increase in importance since the 2023 survey.

  • For justification of price when buying, 30% of consumers say that diamond or gemstone quality is the key factor, with the size coming in as secondary.

The insights shared here are part of a multi-faceted research study initiated by The Plumb Club with the assistance of Paola Deluca, The Futurist, and Qualtrics, a world-renowned survey and analytics firm. The study was conducted with a sampling of over 2,000 men and women from the ages of 25 – 60 with a balanced demographic and psychographic mix across the US with the goal of understanding how individuals engage with jewelry. Respondents had all attended some college or higher and had a combined household income of at least $75K/year. Additional information from this expansive research will be shared over the next several weeks.

The research document will be shared in its entirety during the JCK Las Vegas Show with a presentation on Saturday, June 7 at 12 noon PDT on the Showcase Stage.
